Highgear was born in the Appalachian Mountains in 1999, when outdoor enthusiast Mike Hosey had a vision to create his own unique line of compact and affordable outdoor navigational tools.  Aiming to enhance our customers' experience of the natural world, Highgear evolved significantly in 2001.   Watches, hand-held navigational devices, and pedometers were added to the product base, while infusing the entire line with top notch design.   

At Highgear we are passionate about the outdoors.  We spend our time skiing Sugar Mountain, biking Bent Creek, hiking Pisgah National Forest, and paddling the French Broad River.  This is where we field test our products.  We measure durability, accuracy, and reliability, and then spend hours brainstorming how to make improvements on intuitiveness, design, and function.  The result is a line of high-performance tools that make outdoor adventure easier and more fun.

Our mission goes beyond simply providing a great product at a fair price.  We are in business because when we look out the window, we see an extraordinary playground just waiting to be explored.  We believe our enthusiasm and commitment is communicated through our products, and our blend of technology and design provide you with the very best "tools for adventure".

  In 2006 Highgear at the request of our military consultants and key military  personal started designing and producing watches to military specifications. Highgear is using the same thought process which has made it highly successful in the outdoor sector to accommodate our militaries needs. In 2007 Highgear plans to introduce new models along with new technology into the Military/LE sector and we thank all of dedicated personal who are assisting us with the testing and development of this product. For those who protect the interests of this great nation and make so many sacrifices we thank you and support you.
